Title 1 Parents are greats!

The Parents agenda's, Meeting dates and meeting notes are listed on this section under forms. Please come join us at our meetings.

What is the purpose of Title I?
According to the U.S. Department of Education the purpose of Title I funding, "is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, profiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Who qualifies?
Types of students that might be served by Title I funds include migrant students, students with limited English proficiency, homeless students, students with disabilities, neglected students, deliquent students, at-risk students or any student in need. Students can be classified as at-risk for numerous reasons. A few reasons they might be classified as at-risk are: high number of absences, single-parent home, low academic performance or low-income family and free-reduced lunch program.

Research shows that when parents are involved, students have:

* Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
* Better school attendance
* Increased motivation, better self esteem
* Lower rates of suspension
* Decreased use of drugs and alcohol
* Fewer instances of violent behavior

I am excited for the upcoming year. I will also need your help in taking time to come to our meetings and also volunteering at our school. Our school is parent friendly and we welcome you.

Thank you
